OVERVIEW
Few things inspire me more than designing posters. It's where my love of illustration, typography, composition and visual storytelling comes together. I'm especially drawn to projects centered around music, art, and community, creating designs that not only promote an event but capture its unique atmosphere and personality.
Influenced by the timeless work of Alphonse Mucha and the iconic psychedelic concert posters of Wes Wilson, my poster designs blend expressive illustration with bold typography and vibrant color.
Below is a collection of commissioned posters created for concerts, festivals, and various community events.
SUMMARY
The Alice's Restaurant Party is an annual celebration inspired by Arlo Guthrie's iconic 1967 film and album, Alice's Restaurant. Rooted in the film's spirit of creativity, community, and counterculture, the gathering brings people together each Thanksgiving season for a potluck dinner followed by an open mic where musicians, poets, performers, and storytellers share songs, spoken word, and theatrical performances.
Having attended this beloved tradition for more than a decade, I wanted to give something back to the event by designing a commemorative poster. The illustration features the event's longtime host, Brewster Von Thyme, as an homage to Arlo Guthrie's classic Alice's Restaurant album cover, celebrating both the enduring legacy of the film and the vibrant creative community it continues to inspire.

SUMMARY
Commissioned by Ohio-based Billy Rock Band, this poster was created to promote their Valentine's Day show, The Love Boat in February of 2026. Drawing inspiration from the event's nautical theme, I developed a whimsical illustration of a groovy mermaid at sea, combining bold typography, expressive line work, and psychedelic influences to create a vibrant, eye-catching promotional piece.

SUMMARY
I designed this poster for my Master's capstone exhibition, Ode to Rock: Design for Music Appreciation, as a playful homage to Théophile Steinlen's iconic Art Nouveau poster, Le Chat Noir. Why David Bowie? Because, well... he absolutely rocks my socks. And Cat People. Need I say more?

SUMMARY
Not every rock poster needs to take itself too seriously. This piece was designed for Jefferson Starship lead guitarist Jude Gold and inspired by a running joke from The Flower Cruise. During one dinner, the entire table ordered escargot—except Jude, whose refusal to partake earned him the unofficial title of "friend to all snails." The result is a psychedelic tribute celebrating an extraordinary guitarist and his legendary act of mollusk mercy.

SUMMARY
Midsummer was commissioned by a local artisanal cider and mead company, Silver Wheel Cellar, to promote its annual Summer Solstice celebration, held on a beautiful wooded property in Beltsville, Maryland. Inspired by the spirit of the festival, I centered the composition around Freya, the Norse goddess of love, beauty, fertility, magic, and transformation.
Throughout the illustration, I wove together symbolic elements that reflect both the mythology and the occasion. A crow represents transformation and the passage between worlds, while Freya's iconic feline companions—who pull her chariot in Norse legend—were a joy to illustrate as a lifelong cat lover.
It was an honor to create this poster and to exhibit my work as a featured artist among an incredible community of musicians, makers, and creatives. Below are concept sketches and process work that illustrate the evolution of the final design.

SUMMARY
An homage to James Montgomery Flagg's infamous 1917, "Uncle Sam Wants You For U.S. Army" recruitment poster, I designed this poster to drastically change the tone from a political recruitment-to-war statement to one focused on peace and unity through rock and roll music. Using Flagg's pointing-at-the-viewer tactic as a way to hold the viewer directly responsible, I illustrated none other than The Grateful Dead's, Ron 'Pigpen' McKernan, the distinguished blues/rock ambassador, in place of Uncle Sam.

SUMMARY
The Strawberry Jam is a recurring gathering in Falls Church, Virginia, where musicians of all backgrounds come together to share their love of music through collaborative jam sessions.
Inspired by the flowing elegance of Art Nouveau and the iconic psychedelic concert posters of Wes Wilson, I created this commemorative poster featuring the event's generous host, Mitch. Designed to capture the welcoming spirit and creative energy of the jam, the poster serves as both a promotional piece and a celebration of the vibrant musical community it has fostered.

SUMMARY
The Grateful Gathering was a special event celebrating our friends Brewster and Penny's birthdays while also honoring the Grateful Dead's historic 50th Anniversary Fare Thee Well concerts.
Featuring a live performance by Washington, D.C.'s beloved Grateful Dead tribute band, On The Bus, the celebration brought together a vibrant community of music lovers for an unforgettable evening. To capture the spirit of the occasion, I designed this commemorative poster to promote the event and celebrate the sense of community, nostalgia, and joy that has long surrounded the Grateful Dead's music.

SUMMARY
Commissioned by Silver Wheel Cellars, this poster was created to promote Ostara, the winery's annual Spring Equinox celebration honoring art, music, nature, and community. Inspired by the magic of the changing seasons, I hand-illustrated a whimsical botanical faerie nestled among mushrooms, woodland creatures, and flourishing flora, pairing the illustration with custom hand-drawn typography to create a cohesive visual identity.
Every element was digitally rendered in Adobe Illustrator, blending traditional illustration techniques with vector precision. The artwork was featured across both print and digital promotional materials, with a limited-edition series of prints available at the event. Designing for Ostara was a wonderful opportunity to create artwork that celebrated creativity, community, and the quiet wonder of spring.

SUMMARY
This commissioned portrait was created as a deeply personal gift celebrating our friend Ryan and his wonderfully sarcastic sense of humor. My goal was to create an illustration that felt uniquely him, incorporating meaningful references, hidden details, and one of our favorite shared traditions—what we've come to call "musically punking people." The result is a highly personalized piece that balances humor, storytelling, and illustration to celebrate the friendships and experiences that inspired it.

SUMMARY
Designed for DC-based bluegrass band Swamp Grass, this promotional poster was created for the band's debut performance at the Union Stage venue in downtown DC. Inspired by the energy and authenticity of their music, the design was used to promote the show and later printed as limited-edition merchandise for fans.

SUMMARY
For Swamp Grass's winter tour, I designed this promotional poster that celebrated both the season and the band's unmistakable brand. Centered around their beloved frog mascot, the illustration depicts the character joyfully playing the banjo as snow falls over the Washington, D.C. skyline. Combining custom illustration with hand-drawn typography, the poster reflects the band's lighthearted spirit while serving as both a promotional piece and a collectible print sold during the tour.
