OVERVIEW

As Lead Designer for the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs, I designed and produced a series of animated GIFs for web and social media channels to promote commemorative events, awareness months, and other observances. Each animation was designed to bring greater energy and visibility to OJP’s digital communications while reinforcing the organization’s visual identity.

CHALLENGE

With social media and digital audiences increasingly competing for attention, static graphics alone weren’t always enough to capture interest or encourage engagement. The challenge was to create short, eye-catching animations that could communicate information quickly, feel cohesive with the OJP brand, and work effectively across digital platforms. At the same time, the animations needed to meet accessibility considerations and remain clear and usable for a broad audience.

SOLUTION

I developed a series of animated GIFs that used motion, typography, illustration, and visual storytelling to create more dynamic and engaging digital content. Each animation was tailored to the subject and observance while maintaining consistency with OJP’s broader visual language. I incorporated accessibility considerations throughout the design process, ensuring that motion supported—not hindered—the communication of key information. The resulting GIFs gave OJP a more engaging way to connect with audiences, increase visibility around important observances, and add movement and personality to its digital presence.
